Terms
The deal, in short.
These terms cover the hosted KIN service at kinstudios.org, operated by Gen.Y Studios. The software itself is open source under the AGPL and you are free to run your own.
Your material stays yours
Scripts, schedules, boards, plots, and every file you upload remain yours. Using KIN grants us no ownership of them and no licence beyond what is needed to run the service for you — storing them, rendering them, and sending the ones you tell us to send.
We do not use your material to train models, and we do not sell it.
Your account
You are responsible for who you invite to a production and what role you give them. A person you make a Producer can see the budget. Adding crew is how the tool works, and it is also how material leaves your control, so treat the member list as you would a distribution list.
Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself. Script pages and exports are watermarked with the name of whoever opened them, which only means something if accounts are not shared.
What you agree not to do
Upload material you do not have the right to upload, use the service to break the law, attempt to reach another production’s data, or interfere with the service for other users.
What we promise, and what we do not
We will run the service with reasonable care and tell you plainly when something breaks. We do not promise it will never be unavailable.
The service is provided as is, without warranty. To the extent the law allows, Gen.Y Studios is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it.
Keep your own copies of anything you cannot lose.That is true of every tool, and we would rather say it than imply otherwise. Offline caching means today’s call sheet, sides and schedule stay readable with the network down; it is not a backup.
Ending it
Stop using the service whenever you like. Ask us to delete your account and we will, on the terms set out in Privacy. We may suspend an account that is being used to break these terms, and we will say why.
Changes
If these terms change materially we will say so in-app rather than edit the page quietly. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
